Red Barn Books
HOWDY and welcome to Red Barn Books Inc., where we lovingly bring Alberta books to life. We work with authors and artists to create content that celebrates horses, cowboys and country living – small-batch books that leave a hoofprint on readers’ hearts.
Red Barn Books was named Emerging Publisher of the Year by the Book Publishers Association of Alberta in 2020. In 2021, we added a new feather to our cap – Howdy, I’m John Ware won two awards, including Children’s Book of the Year in the Alberta Book Publishing Awards.

In Fall 2021, we signed with UTP as our exclusive distributor, and Hornblower Group for sales representation across the country (Read + Co in the west). This is a huge step for our micro-press.
I founded Red Barn in 2019 because I couldn’t find enough horse books for my cowboy-crazy son. Today, we have a collection of six titles. We have more great things planned, including the imminent launch of a baby board book, Alberta Blue, and Howdy, I’m Flores LaDue, a children’s book about the world champion trick roper and co-founder of the Calgary Stampede, coming in Spring 2022.
